AIM High Writers’ Day

Selected Year 5 pupils from Chingford C of E, as well as pupils from St Mary's RC, Chase Lane and Downsell, recently joined together in the junior hall to take part in a biography workshop run by Seth Burkett, the youngest person to be shortlisted for the British Sport Book Awards.

Following the publication of his debut title, The Boy in Brazil, Seth has gone on to publish ten other books, including children’s fiction titles and several ghost-written books, including for two of the world’s biggest YouTubers. Most recently he has collaborated with Matt Oldfield to write Play Like Your Football Heroes, published by Walker Books.

Emma and Emmeline from 5 Bronte class, who both attended the workshop, were very enthusiastic about the sessions Seth led. Emma commented, "Seth was very inspirational and taught us many skills about writing biographies." Emmeline added, "Aside from learning about biography writing we also were taught about fact-files and the importance of research when writing books."
