Computing Professor Teaches Magic
Professor Paul Curzon from Queen Mary University, London, spent a day with Year 5 pupils recently teaching them about the reasoning and logic that lies behind many familiar magic tricks.
One of the tricks the Professor of Computer Science taught the children was Invisible Palming Magic where you invisibly move a card from one pile to another. By demonstrating a whole host of tricks to the children, Paul attempted to show the connection between algorithms and tricks and how to develop computational thinking.
Year 5 pupil and would-be professor himself, Eddie, commented, "It was a really engaging way of teaching computer science and I hope Professor Paul revisits us some time in the future."
