Debating competition at Bancrofts Prep School!

Two teams made up of three Y6 pupils each attended a debating competition hosted by Bancrofts Prep school. The teams were asked to prepare arguments for and against the motion, "This house believes that honesty is always the best policy." The teams didn't know whether they would be proposing or opposing the motion until we arrived!

Then there were two unseen topics that the teams had fifteen minutes each to prepare their arguments: "This house believes books are better than films" and "This house believes computers will soon replace the need for teachers." Alex, Hasan and Zhion made up one team and Ethan, Lara and Riah the second team. All six were magnificent! They argued articulately with passion and humour. They followed the rules of debating and won three debates. Ms Lampard said it was a privilege and a pleasure to accompany them!

A teacher from Forest School, one of th eteams we commented against, said, "It was lovely to meet you and your team yesterday and what an exciting debate we had. Your team were impressive, and I really enjoyed listening to their debate speeches. I look forward to competing against you at the next event!"
