Dog Week Report
This term the school is supporting The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association. Our aim is to raise £1500 which will go towards the cost of training a guide dog.
Our reward for raising this sum of money will enable us to support a puppy on its amazing journey to become a guide dog for someone with a visual impairment.
During the week commencing Monday 3rd June a number of events took place across the Infant and Junior sites aimed at educating the children about blindness and how dogs have become ‘man’s best friend’.
These events included visits from ‘Daisy’, a guide dog and her owner, two working police dogs and their handlers, plus a talk from a local veterinarian on dog care.
Several groups of children raised money by selling such things as ‘dog biscuit’ snacks at playtime and raffling a doggie hamper. In addition, Miss Curtis, from the Junior site, organised a very successful sponsored dog walk on Chingford Plain.
The week culminated in a non-uniform ‘Silly Shirt Day’. So far we have raised over £1500!
