Remembrance Day

On Friday 11th November the school remembered those who have given their lives serving our country in the armed forces.

The day started with an online assembly to all classes in Key stages 1 & 2 led by Ms Lampard which focussed on the importance of remembrance.

This was followed by a two-minute silence across both sites and then by a visit from a Royal Marine to Year 6 who spoke about his experiences and the history behind 'Poppy Day' as it is sometimes called. One lucky Year 6 student even got to dress up in a military uniform.

In the afternoon the same group of Year 6 students took part in a service held at Chingford Mount Cemetery where we laid a poppy wreath on the Cross of Sacrifice. The children also got to visit some of the graves of service men who lost their lives in The Great War.

Throughout the day children across the school were engaged in numerous Remembrance related activities including making poppies and poppy wreaths and learning about the futility and tragedy of war.
