UK Parliament Recognises School Pupils' Courageous Advocacy
The school recently entered a competition run by UK Parliament looking to recognise schools who have promoted courageous advocacy amongst their pupils. At Chingford C of E Primary, we encourage and support our children to be "courageous advocates". This means they champion causes which are special and meaningful to them.
Our extensive road traffic campaigns on both sites were put forward as evidence of how the school has worked with its pupils, parents and local community to bring about a safer crossing on Kings Road as well as attempting to improve driver behaviour on Cambridge Road.
Whilst the school did not win first place in the competition, we were delighted to be told we received a 'Highly Commended' approbation from the judges:
"On behalf of the Education and Engagement Team and our panel of judges, we would like to thank you for taking the time to tell us about all the hard work you’re doing!
With nearly 288 nominations, deciding a winner was not easy. The judges were very impressed by the high standard of the entries this year. While your entry did not win this time, it was considered Highly Commended by the judges."
