Vision and Values

Vision

Our vision is for every child to flourish personally, academically and spiritually, growing the knowledge, skills and character to achieve highly and act for the good of others, at home, across Britain and the world.

Look beyond. Flourish together.

We are a Church of England school at the heart of our community in Chingford. We welcome children and families of all faiths and none, and we want every child to feel they belong here.

Our vision is inspired by Philippians 2:4: “Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.” It also draws on John 10:10, where Jesus says: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Our four values

Our values come from the Church of England’s Vision for Education. Each is rooted in scripture and shapes how we learn, behave and treat one another.

Wisdom (Knowledge and Understanding)

“Jesus grew in wisdom…” (Luke 2:52)

We build deep knowledge and understanding, ask thoughtful questions and keep growing as learners. We use what we learn to make wise choices for ourselves and for others.

Hope (Aspiration, Resilience and Achievement)

“They will run and not grow weary…” (Isaiah 40:31)

We set high aspirations, show resilience when things are hard and take pride in what we achieve. We hold on to hope that things can get better and we play our part in making it happen.

Community (Belonging and Helping Others)

“Love your neighbour as yourself.” (Luke 10:27)

Everyone belongs here. We look out for one another, work together for the common good and care for our neighbours in Chingford, across Britain and around the world.

Dignity (Individuality, Growth and Spirituality)

“God created mankind in his own image.” (Genesis 1:27)

Every child is unique and valued. We respect everyone, help each other to grow in confidence and character, and learn to notice, wonder and reach out in love.

How our values come to life

Our values are explored in collective worship and assemblies, in our teaching of children’s rights and British Values, and in the way we expect everyone to treat each other every day.

What we see in our pupils

  • they ask questions without easy answers and listen carefully to views different from their own.
  • they can be still, reflect or pray and keep going when things are hard.
  • they notice when someone is left out and do something about it, and they can say sorry and forgive.
  • they can talk honestly about how they feel and know they matter.

Collective Worship

"Collective worship enhances the lives of pupils and staff. It strengthens the community’s commitment to look out for their own interests and those of others." SIAMS June 2024
