  • Spirited Arts Competition

Sat 23 May 2026 Ms Lowrie & Mrs Greenburg

This terms Spirited Arts Competition was to create a piece of art about a Sacred Space that matters to the children and to write a piece explaining why that place was special. The children produced some very high quality pieces and the School Councillors found this competition very hard to judge. • Girls' Cricket Teams Shine at Leyton Tournament

Fri 15 May 2026 Mrs Gillies

We were lucky enough to take two Year 5 and 6 girls' teams to Leyton to take part in a cricket tournament involving 21 teams. Despite experiencing all types of weather throughout the day, the girls showed fantastic determination and teamwork throughout the competition.

Each team played two group games, with teams needing to win both matches to progress to the knockout stages. Our B team played brilliantly, winning one game and narrowly losing the other, meaning they unfortunately did not progress any further.

Our A team won both of their group matches to secure a place in the quarter-finals, where they put in another excellent performance to progress to the semi-finals. There, they were beaten by a very strong Greenleaf School side — the same team that had defeated our B team earlier in the tournament.

The girls then went on to compete in the 3rd/4th place play-off, where they beat Hillyfield to earn themselves a well-deserved bronze medal.

A huge well done to all of the girls who took part. Greenleaf went on to win the entire tournament, so both of our teams should be extremely proud of their performances and achievements.

  • Year 4 step back in time with the Maya

Tue 12 May 2026 Miss Efreme

Year 4 had a truly spectacular day this week, stepping back in time to explore the fascinating world of the ancient Maya, brought to life by the brilliant team at History Off the Page!

The children threw themselves into a wonderfully immersive experience, getting hands-on with history and coming away with some remarkable artefacts they had made themselves. From intricate designs to beautifully crafted creations, it was wonderful to see so much creativity and enthusiasm on display.

A huge thank you to History Off the Page for making it such a memorable day. History really does come alive when you get to live it - even if just for a day!

    Well done, Year 4.

  • Year 1 Plant Detectives

Fri 08 May 2026 Miss Hutchinson

What a day out! Year 1 headed to the beautiful Epping Forest this week to put on their plant detective hats and explore the natural world around them. With the help of the Epping Forest Learning team, the children discovered the different parts of plants, learned what plants need to grow and had a go at identifying trees, all while being surrounded by the real thing!

It was a joy to see so many curious minds asking questions, peering at leaves and getting stuck in. There is no classroom quite like the great outdoors and Epping Forest certainly didn't disappoint.

A big thank you to the Epping Forest Learning team for making it such a memorable and enriching day. We hope our budding botanists keep exploring nature long after the trip!

  • Year 2 - William Morris Gallery Trip

Wed 15 Apr 2026 Mrs Khalil

Year 2 had a wonderful day out at the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow, exploring the life and work of one of Britain's most beloved designers. The children wandered through rooms filled with extraordinary fabrics, wallpapers, stained glass and tiles, many of them instantly recognisable from everyday life!

William Morris believed that beautiful things should be available to everyone, a message that clearly resonated with our curious and thoughtful Year 2s. From intricate woven textiles to stunning printed patterns, the exhibits sparked plenty of conversation about colour, nature and the stories behind great design.

It was a brilliant reminder of how art is all around us.

  • Stations of the Cross

Fri 27 Mar 2026 Ms Lowrie

This term, the children have been thinking carefully and creatively about the events of Holy Week,  exploring how Christians around the world mark and celebrate Easter in their own meaningful ways.

We are proud to share that their wonderful work is now on display at the Parish Church of St Peter and Paul, where it will remain until Good Friday. If you are passing, please do pop in, we think you will be impressed!

  • Year 3 Allotment Trip

Mon 23 Mar 2026 Miss Watson

Year 3 visited the allotments on King's Road, where they learnt about growing food organically and admired the changes of spring since their last visit. The children sowed flowers and peas and planted potatoes, before Andrew gave a fascinating talk on beekeeping - even bringing a honeycomb into school for a closer look!

A huge thank you to all the allotmenteers for their time and knowledge. We look forward to returning in the summer. 🌻

  • Super Writer - Role of Honour

Thu 19 Mar 2026 Mr Hewitt

Writing is a powerful tool for thinking, communicating and expressing ideas. Our Super Writers Role of Honour celebrates children who demonstrate a strong commitment to developing their writing over time.

Being a Super Writer is not about getting everything right the first time. It is about the process - making changes, refining ideas, editing carefully and showing the determination to improve. We want our children to understand that great writing comes from perseverance, reflection and a willingness to keep going, even when it feels challenging.

Through our celebrations, we recognise those pupils who take pride in their work, respond positively to feedback and show resilience in their learning. These are the habits that not only lead to strong writing outcomes, but also support success across all areas of the curriculum.

We are incredibly proud of our Super Writers and look forward to welcoming many more children onto the Role of Honour as they continue to grow in confidence, skill and independence.

  • Waltham Forest Cross-Country

Sat 14 Mar 2026 Miss Efreme

On Saturday 14th March, 50 of our KS2 pupils took part in the final Waltham Forest cross-country event of the academic year. With the weather on our side, everyone gathered at the starting line feeling a mix of excitement and nerves.

The boys raced first, and it wasn’t long before we saw the white shirts of our runners powering towards the finish line. They ran brilliantly as a team and secured an impressive 3rd place overall.

Next up were the girls. They set off at a strong pace and, just like the boys, it felt like no time had passed before a sea of white shirts came racing into the finish. An incredible 8 of the first 14 finishers were from our school, helping the team achieve a fantastic 1st place finish.

Both our girls’ and boys’ B teams also performed exceptionally well, each earning runner-up medals. This means the trophy is now back at school where it belongs, following three consecutive cross-country victories.

There was plenty of mud, a few lost trainers, and lots of exhausted - but very happy - children at the end of the day!

We are incredibly proud of every pupil who took part. A special mention goes to Ediz in Year 5 and Lulu in Year 6 who both achieved an outstanding 2nd place in their races, competing against fields of 234 and 197 runners respectively.

Well done to everyone involved and a huge thank you to the parents and staff who came along to support.

  • British Science Week

Fri 13 Mar 2026 Mr Hewitt

This week our pupils enjoyed taking part in British Science Week, a national celebration of science that encourages children to explore, question and discover how science helps us understand the world around us.

Throughout the week, children across the school took part in a range of fun and thought provoking investigations. One activity explored “The Secret Life of Snot”, where pupils discovered how mucus plays an important role in protecting our bodies by trapping dust and germs before they enter our lungs. While the topic caused plenty of laughter, it also helped the children understand just how clever the human body can be.

Another investigation asked a classic scientific question: does toast always land butter side down? Pupils made predictions, carried out their own experiments and compared results, discovering that sometimes the answer to a common belief is not quite as simple as it seems.

Children also explored how boats float, learning about buoyancy and how objects can stay afloat when they push aside enough water to support their weight. Through practical investigation and discussion, pupils began to understand the science that allows boats and ships to travel safely across the water.

British Science Week provided a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to think like scientists by asking questions, making predictions and testing ideas. It was wonderful to see their curiosity, enthusiasm and willingness to explore the world around them.
