  • Easter Box Project

    Tue 30 Mar 2021

Following on from their successful Christmas Box Project, the Red Balloon Foundation have continued to support the teaching of RE in the school by supplying our Year 2 - Year 6 classes with an Easter Box containing resources related to the events of Holy Week. The imaginative resources are supported by a PowerPoint presentation that helps teachers and pupils navigate their way through the story from the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem to his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Year 4 teacher, Mrs Brand, enthused about the Easter Box Project commenting, " The Easter box materials have really brought the telling of the Easter story to life. The children thoroughly enjoyed Luke and Lizzy's presentation which has really helped develop their understanding of the significance of Easter to Christians."

  • Easter Church Service

    Thu 25 Mar 2021

Year 6 pupils were able to attend a church service celebrating Easter today with the rest of the school in attendance via a video-link set up by the Red Balloon Foundation. This was the first occasion we have been able to visit the Parish Church since Christmas 2019. It was also an opportunity for the children to be personally acquainted with the new incumbent, Father Justin, who due to lockdown restrictions, has not been able to meet up with any of our children since his ordination.

Year 6 pupil Caspar was delighted to visit the church saying, "It was great to be be back in the peaceful environment of the church after all the hustle and bustle over the past year."

Year 5 pupil, Grace, who watched the service from her classroom commented, "Although the sound quality wasn't particularly good it was still a lovely service."

  • Happy Easter

    Wed 24 Mar 2021

With Easter just around the corner, and with many children's minds turning to chocolate eggs, pupils in our Reception classes, Darling and Shakespeare, have been observing the incubation of chicken eggs and were delighted to welcome some new arrivals into the world when the eggs hatched producing a number of gorgeous chicks.

Dolly from Darling class described the chicks as 'soft and warm to touch'. Charlotte, also from Darling class added, 'They are beautiful and soft. It was exciting to see them hatch."

    Happy Easter, everyone!
