Girls' Cricket Teams Shine at Leyton Tournament
Fri 15 May 2026We were lucky enough to take two Year 5 and 6 girls' teams to Leyton to take part in a cricket tournament involving 21 teams. Despite experiencing all types of weather throughout the day, the girls showed fantastic determination and teamwork throughout the competition.
Each team played two group games, with teams needing to win both matches to progress to the knockout stages. Our B team played brilliantly, winning one game and narrowly losing the other, meaning they unfortunately did not progress any further.
Our A team won both of their group matches to secure a place in the quarter-finals, where they put in another excellent performance to progress to the semi-finals. There, they were beaten by a very strong Greenleaf School side — the same team that had defeated our B team earlier in the tournament.
The girls then went on to compete in the 3rd/4th place play-off, where they beat Hillyfield to earn themselves a well-deserved bronze medal.
A huge well done to all of the girls who took part. Greenleaf went on to win the entire tournament, so both of our teams should be extremely proud of their performances and achievements.

Year 4 step back in time with the Maya
Tue 12 May 2026Year 4 had a truly spectacular day this week, stepping back in time to explore the fascinating world of the ancient Maya, brought to life by the brilliant team at History Off the Page!
The children threw themselves into a wonderfully immersive experience, getting hands-on with history and coming away with some remarkable artefacts they had made themselves. From intricate designs to beautifully crafted creations, it was wonderful to see so much creativity and enthusiasm on display.
A huge thank you to History Off the Page for making it such a memorable day. History really does come alive when you get to live it - even if just for a day!
Well done, Year 4.

Year 1 Plant Detectives
Fri 08 May 2026What a day out! Year 1 headed to the beautiful Epping Forest this week to put on their plant detective hats and explore the natural world around them. With the help of the Epping Forest Learning team, the children discovered the different parts of plants, learned what plants need to grow and had a go at identifying trees, all while being surrounded by the real thing!
It was a joy to see so many curious minds asking questions, peering at leaves and getting stuck in. There is no classroom quite like the great outdoors and Epping Forest certainly didn't disappoint.
A big thank you to the Epping Forest Learning team for making it such a memorable and enriching day. We hope our budding botanists keep exploring nature long after the trip!
