• Better Aquatics Team Water Safety Assembly

  This week, the children enjoyed a Water Safety Roadshow, delivered by the Better Aquatics Team, where they were taught the Water Safety Code and given tips on how to stay safe in and around water.

• Year 2 - Medieval Castle Day

  The children had a fantastic day taking part in our Medieval Castle Day, where they were immersed in life during the medieval period. Throughout the day, they enjoyed a range of practical activities, including making candles, ink, bracelets, pouches, finger tabs for archery, pastries and herbal remedies, as well as many other traditional crafts.

   

  In the afternoon, the children attended a lively medieval banquet. They entertained one another with singing, jousting, jokes and storytelling before enjoying a feast served by servants, just as people may have experienced in medieval times. It was a memorable day that brought history to life and helped the children imagine what life was like in 1144.

  

• KS2 Quad Kids Competition

  Miss Efreme and Mrs Gillies headed off to the KS2 Quad Kids competition at the Feel Good Centre with a squad of four girls and four boys from each year group across Years 3 to 6. Each child competed in four events: sprint, long-distance run, howler throw and long jump. All of our children performed brilliantly, giving their all in every event and achieving a number of first, second and third place finishes across the day.

   

  A special mention goes to Isabelle Rustem, who achieved the longest jump of the day in the girls' competition, and to Sheryhar, who threw the howler the furthest in the Year 4 boys' event.

  As the competition is being held over two days with many schools taking part, we will not receive the final results until later this month. However, we are incredibly proud of the entire squad for the determination, resilience and sportsmanship they showed throughout the day. We will share the final scores as soon as we receive them.

   

  A huge thank you to our parent helpers, who provided brilliant support throughout the event.

  

• In Full Bloom - Year 3 Art Exhibition

  On Friday 12th June, our Year 3 children proudly showcased their Botanical Garden of Flower Sculptures in a wonderful art exhibition. The children worked creatively to design and construct a vibrant collection of flower sculptures, exploring a range of paper-sculpting techniques including fringing, curling, slotting and cupping. The results were truly impressive, with each child demonstrating real creativity, perseverance and craftsmanship. It was a joy to see so many families come along to celebrate their achievements and we are incredibly proud of every one of them.

  

• Year 5 Science Investigation

  Year 5 pupils investigated how different solids react when mixed with white vinegar. They added vinegar to bicarbonate of soda and a range of other solids, making careful observations throughout the investigation. Pupils observed bubbles being produced and identified that a gas was released. Through discussion, they learned that a chemical reaction had occurred, resulting in the formation of a new substance, carbon dioxide gas. They also understood that this was an irreversible change, as the original materials could not be recovered.

  

• Year 5 Cricket Tournament

  A sunny day awaited us at Leyton Cricket Ground as we took two Year 5 teams along to compete. Our B team played two closely contested matches, narrowly missing out on a place in the quarter-finals. Our A team progressed to the quarter-finals but were unfortunately knocked out by just 9 runs. It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all, with every participant demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and tenacity throughout. Miss Gordon, who organised the event, praised the children for their outstanding behaviour, and we are incredibly proud of them all. A special thank you to our parent helpers for their support on the day.
