  • Boys Footaball A Team Report

    Fri 29 Jan 2016

    C of E Football Boys' A Team Report 2015-16

By Elliott Smith & Jorja Pollard of class 5B

‘It has been a great season so far,’ says Mr Osborne, head coach of the Chingford C of E school football team. With the team doing very well in a number of tournaments, and with a major competition next week at Tottenham Hotspur’s impressive training ground, there’s much to look forward to.

Mr Osborne added, ‘We want to represent the borough at Crystal Palace in the London Youth Games and being that we have good players, we have every chance!’

‘A highlight for me was when David Harris scored 6 goals in consecutive matches; quite an achievement!’

We also spoke to team captain, Jedd Coster. ‘Our greatest strength is our skill. But with more training, we can improve further.’

Jedd added, ‘We are a bit nervous about the competition next Friday but still looking forward to it very much and I think we can get to the Semi-Finals at least!

Mr Bloomfield, who helps Mr Osborne coach the team said, ‘I have seen this team improve dramatically during the season. At the beginning, they were a bit ramshackle, but now they are a well-oiled machine that is a match for anyone!

‘Whoever we play, I’m really confident of victory because we have great players in all positions. We are sound in defence and very creative when we push forward.’

  • Girl's Football Match 11.01.2016

    Tue 12 Jan 2016
Last night out girls played their first match of the new year at Goals in the league. The results were as follows:

lost their first match 4:0 against Parkside

won the second match Chingford cofe 3:0 yardley. Well done to Rosie who scored all 3 goals!

Won the third match Chingford cofe 4:0 Henry Maynard A. Incredibly,  Rosie scored another 3 and Sofia scored a stunning goal from her own half!

Well done girls for your persistence after losing your first match and producing two brilliant results. Amazing scoring power from Rosie for netting 6 goals!

Once again, thank you so much to their fabulous coach, Mr Winspear, who continues to volunteer his time to support the team and get the best out of them. We are all very lucky and grateful for this.

Keep up the good work everyone.

  • Leyton Orient 50/50 Day

    Tue 05 Jan 2016

On Saturday 19th December 26 pupils accompanied by family members attended Leyton Orient’s home game against Yeovil as part of the club’s 50/50 initiative. The idea behind the scheme is that the school sells reduced priced match day tickets on the club’s behalf with the proceeds been shared equally between the two organisations. The 50/50 scheme raised over £250 for school funds and provided  an enjoyable day for those who attended the game.

Sixteen lucky pupils got to be flag bearers welcoming the teams on to the pitch before the game started. Year 6 pupil and flag bearer, Adam, described the experience as, “amazing and stunning!”  Year 5 pupil,  Oliver, was particularly impressed with the crowd’s reaction as the flag bearers walked around the pitch.  For another Year 5 pupil, William,  the best moment of the day was when the flag bearers waved the players onto the pitch.

For the record the game ended 1-1.

Look out for another 50/50 initiative later on in the season.
