AIM High Days
AIM High Days
We are a host school for a number of AIM High writers’ sessions throughout the year. The A.I.M High writers’ programme was set up in 2002 by Brian Moses, one of Britain’s favourite children’s poets. In 2011, Authors Abroad started to manage the A.I.M High programme and it rapidly expanded.
This is an opportunity for our children to work with; be inspired and challenged by professional poets, authors, script writers, journalists, storytellers. It also provides us with the opportunity to work alongside children from schools across the local authority and beyond, when they join us on these days.
Professionals that have visited to work with us have included poet, Karl Nova; author and illustrator, Karin Littlewood; journalist William Gallagher; sportsman and writer, Seth Burkett and creator of the Rastamouse series, Michael de Souza.
We’ve loved working with them and the feeling has been mutual!
"Seth was very inspirational and taught us many skills about writing biographies."
"Aside from learning about biography writing we also were taught about fact-files and the importance of research when writing books."
Year 5 pupils
“It was fantastic. Just so invigorating, those young writers are sharper and faster than many adult groups I’ve run workshops for and I bounced out of your school.”
