Religious Education (RE)
RE Mission Statement for Chingford CofE
Our principle aim for Religious Education is to explore big questions about life, in order to find out what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that our pupils can make sense of religion and worldviews, and reflect on their own ideas and ways of living.
In addition, as our school community contains representatives from many different nationalities cultures and faith groups, we aim to offer a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our pupils including the new arrivals and non-native English speakers in our community
We therefore believe that Religious Education provides an opportunity to celebrate and foster awareness of these differences within our school and the wider world.
With this in mind, it is particularly pertinent to our school and our Christian vision* that Religious Education should help pupils to develop a positive attitude towards other people, respecting their right to hold different beliefs from their own, and towards living in a society of many religions and beliefs.
