Culture and Climate

Chingford CofE Primary has a strong tradition of being a welcoming, diverse, vibrant school. Children’s individuality and interests are of paramount importance to staff, parents and children. We work with other schools in the North Area Partnership within Waltham Forest, to share expertise, learn from other settings locally, develop a specialism, and work in partnership on particular projects, always with school improvement as our focus.

At Chingford CofE Primary, we believe that the traditions of a school give children the security and sense of belonging that is much needed in our ever-changing world. Things that happen every year, every week or every day give a rhythm and pace to a school as children and staff add in their own flavour and twist to the regular events. New traditions will be introduced and with our well established focus on pupil voice, our desire to encourage courageous advocates, this gives us a springboard to set an inspiring agenda for our community.

With our vision, "Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too" (Philippians 2:4) we seek to develop within our pupils the practice of generous hospitality along with an understanding of their rights under the UN convention for the rights of a child.

By ensuring that Spiritual development is a vital component of daily school life we offer our pupils opportunities to connect to the world around us, appreciating  the awe and wonder, developing curiosity and connecting us to a sense that there is something greater than us. An invitation to prayer and reflection is part of our school's everyday practice. In this ever fast moving world, many within our school community welcome the space, whether during daily collective worship, or through carefully curated physical spaces in the environment, to be able to pray or simply to hold a thought in quiet contemplation.

The Chingford CofE Primary community is aspirational and it is our aim to provide the widest possible range of activities and experiences for children. Living in London does not automatically ensure a culturally rich experience, but we are able to offer  London-based trips as well as residential stays. We serve a global community and our curriculum reflects this and makes learning meaningful and exciting.

Developing and nurturing outstanding practitioners to deliver our outstanding curriculum is always our priority. To do this we remain outward-looking, open to new developments and innovative in our approach.
