Stay and Read
Stay and Read
Every term, we invite parents and carers to attend our Stay and Read sessions to provide an opportunity to share a love of reading with one another. Parents and carers join their child/ren in their classrooms, the library, school hall, activity areas and anywhere else they can find a comfy spot to share a book or two!
These sessions are always well-attended and positive comments from the children and their parents/carers is received.
"It was good for my grandad to come to school to read with me as he can see how well I'm doing."

"My mum usually comes into school so it was really brilliant to spend time with my dad here."

We continue to develop these opportunities to have the greatest impact on our children and therefore, the most recent Stay and Read session included guided lessons for parents/carers led by members of the teaching team. The focus this time was on reading comprehension and information retrieval.
“I just wanted to say how great the Stay & Read session was this morning. Really informative and interesting to understand how the children are learning and how we can help at home.”
