Our Art Mission Statement

At Chingford C of E Primary School, it is the aim to inspire all children to develop a love and a passion of art and use this as a way to express themselves. We want absolutely everyone to have the same opportunity and experience to explore their own artistic identity and reach their full creative potential. Through the curriculum, children are given the opportunity to experiment with their own ideas; they will explore the use of colour, texture, form, pattern and a variety of materials and processes. This enables them to develop their skill base in art with using a variety of mediums.

Children become involved in shaping their environments through art and design activities. They learn to make informed judgements and aesthetic and practical decisions. They explore ideas and meanings through the work of artists and designers. Through learning about the roles and functions of art, they can explore the impact it has had on contemporary life and that of different times and cultures.

Through the exploration of different artists and their artistic styles, we are striving to help inspire the children to develop their own artistic identity and develop their artistic skills. Children will realise that they are their own artist; every artist has a different identity and no piece of artwork will look the same.
