PSHE and Personal Development Mission Statement
at Chingford Church of England Primary School:
At Chingford Church of England Primary School, we believe in the Biblical phrase:
‘Don’t look out only for your own interests but take an interest in others too’ (Philippians 2:4)
In PSHE and Personal Development we believe that this is a fundamental
aspect of every part of our school life. We ensure that all members of our school community look after themselves and others in all that they do.
Our PSHE curriculum ensures that all our children are given the opportunity to learn how to keep themselves healthy through
exercise, hygiene, diet and mental health
At Chingford Church of England Primary, we help children to keep themselves safe and understand what is age-appropriate or not – both on and off-line. Class teachers provide an environment in which sensitive discussions can take place in a compassionate and empathetic way. This helps pupils develop feelings of self-respect, confidence and empathy. These skills raise standards of children by enabling them to feel secure, motivated, confident and independent as learners.
With our bespoke curriculum we create a positive culture around issues of sexuality and relationships. We prepare pupils for puberty, and give them an understanding of sexual development in an age appropriate and sensitive manner.
Chingford Church of England Primary School strives to work positively with the school community to ensure that all members feel valued and included. Chingford C of E Primary School aims to be an inclusive and welcoming school allowing every child to reach their full potential within Personal Development and PSHE.
