  • Boys' and Girls' Football Tournament

    Thu 25 Jan 2018

The Boys' and the Girls' football teams recorded a unique double at Goals Chingford on Friday 19th January. In borough-wide tournaments, organised by Tottenham Hotspur, the Chingford C of E teams came out on top by showing great resilience and tenacity to overcome set-backs and disappointments to eventually reign supreme.

The quality of the opposition was of a very high standard but by playing as a team, with each individual, including the substitutes contributing greatly, both the boys and girls team were without question deserved winners.

Both teams have now qualified to play in a tournament as Tottenham Hotspurs' state of the art training facility later next month with the tantalising prize at stake of representing Spurs in a Premier League competition to be held at Leicester City's stadium in May.

Coach Mr Bloomfield, who was ably assisted by Mr Rimmer said after the tournament: "I was really proud of both sets of players. We went there with the intention of winning by playing good quality, high tempo football and we showed exactly that. Our high skills rates were matched by a good attitude and a determination to succeed. The hurdles we faced were high ones, but were negotiated each and every one. Both the boys and girls thoroughly deserve their Gold Awards."

The boys team success means it is the fourth year in succession that they have qualified at this stage of the competition. In 2016, C of E won the tournament and went on to represent Spurs at Goodison Park, the home of Everton where they reached the semi-final.
