Year 6 Girls Shine at Primary School Football Competition
Tue 06 Oct 2026Our Year 6 girls enjoyed a fantastic day at Goals in Chingford, taking part in the Primary School Football Competition.
The team played ten matches and produced an outstanding series of performances. In the group stages they won all five of their games without conceding a single goal, securing top spot in their group.
In the quarter finals the girls faced Northwold School from Hackney and continued their excellent form with a convincing 5–0 victory. They then played Selwyn School in the semi finals, winning 4–0 to secure their place in the three way final alongside Mission Grove and Davies Lane.
The first final match was against Mission Grove, who proved to be the team’s toughest opponents of the tournament. #TeamCCofE took the lead, but Mission Grove equalised with just 30 seconds remaining, bringing the match to a 1–1 draw. The girls then faced Davies Lane and battled hard for a well deserved 1–0 victory.
The final outcome depended on the result of the match between Mission Grove and Davies Lane. Mission Grove won 4–0, meaning #TeamCCofE finished as tournament runners up on goal difference and brought home the silver trophy.
Tournament highlights:
- 32 schools competing
- 10 games played
- 28 goals scored
- Just 1 goal conceded
- Tournament runners up
Although the statistics were impressive, the girls’ teamwork and attitude were the real highlights of the day. They played some excellent football, worked tirelessly for one another and supported each other from the first whistle to the last. Coaches from other schools praised the team’s performance, and the girls showed respect and kindness towards their opponents throughout.
Finishing with a silver trophy was a fantastic result, and the girls should be immensely proud. They demonstrated the teamwork, determination and sportsmanship that make #TeamCCofE so special.
Congratulations to Nyah, Sofia, Sophia, Issy, Rubey, Layna, Kate and Alexia on an outstanding tournament!
