  • Qualiteach Year 3 Football Tournament

    Fri 31 Jan 2020

A squad of eight Year 3 footballers recently took on local schools in the Qualiteach Cup, a tournament that offers the  finalists chance to play at Leyton Orient's ground prior to the kick off of an EFL2 game later in the season. Unfortunately for us, our dreams of stepping out onto the hallowed turf of The Breyer Group Stadium were dashed in the qualifying stages following defeats against Hillyfields and Newport.

However, the boys managed to win two and draw two games to finish with a respectable tally of points.

Squad captain, Jamie, commented, " I am over the moon to have been chosen as captain but was as sick as a parrot about not getting to the final."

  • Superwriter winners January 2020!

    Fri 10 Jan 2020

Superwriters: The Super Writer awards are nominated each half term for the most improved girl and boy in each class. Anyone can win the award as EVERYONE (however good) can improve. You can win the award several times over as long as you are continuing to improve!

In the award winner’s assembly on Friday, I was explaining to the children that there are two jobs to do when you are writing at school. The first job is the author-the ideas person who has to get the story/facts told. The second job is to be an editor-to go back through it and correct spellings, vocabulary choices, the organisation of ideas, the presentation and punctuation. In the adult world these are two distinct jobs-author and editor and are usually done by two separate people. At school we ask children to do both jobs and often it is the editing job that is hard after children have invested time, energy and their emotions into their writing to then pick it apart and try to improve it further.

All the winners of the most improved writer awards have been working so hard on improving their work. The winners this time are: Maria and Hayes from YRD. Isabelle and Alfie from YRS. Dulcie and Edward from Y1B. Katie and Jack S from Y1S. Emmeline and Jack from Y2M. Noor-Fatimah and Tommy from Y2N. Julia and Dexter from Y3B. Toby and Khloe from Y3P. Alexandra and Alexander from Y4B. Kristal and George from Y4E-H. Lexie and Joseph from Y5H. Caspar and Alannah from Y5B. Darcey and Jack B from Y6D. Marcel and Summer from Y6P. Very well done to all of them!
