  • Boys Football at Tottenham Hotspur's Training Ground

    Tue 20 Feb 2018

C of E boys' team came within a whisker at Tottenham Hotspur's training centre of reaching the play-off final to see which school would represent Spurs at this year's Premier League Schools' Tournament to be held at Leicester City's King Power Stadium Stadium.

Being beaten in the 'round robin' league stage on goal difference was a tough pill to swallow for the boys. However, they performed admirably winning 4 out of 5 league games.

Goalkeeper, Alex, who put in a sterling performance between the sticks commented, "Although we were disappointed not to qualify for the final, it was a great experience playing at Spurs' state of the art training centre.'

This was the fourth time in succession that a C of E's boys' team has reached this stage of the competition and speaks volumes about the quality of the players coming through the ranks.

Coach, David Bloomfield, whose father, Jimmy Bloomfield, who was once manager of Leicester City, was disappointed not to be going to the King Power Stadium with the boys. " I'm really gutted, " he commented, "however, hats off to the boys, they are a talented bunch and we still have the finals of the London Youth Games to look forward to which take place on Tuesday, 20th March.
