Fri 10 Jul 2026This term, Year 4 have been diving into the exciting world of animation! Using 2Animate on Purple Mash, the children have been learning about the art and craft of stop motion - discovering how a sequence of carefully positioned images, when played together, can create the magic of movement.
From planning their ideas and creating their characters to painstakingly moving and photographing each frame, the children have shown incredible patience, creativity and attention to detail throughout the process.
The results are truly impressive and a real testament to the hard work and imagination they have put in.
We are very proud of what Year 4 have produced this term and we would love for you to take a look at their finished projects for yourselves.

Mini World Cup 2026 - Champions Crowned!
Wed 08 Jul 2026Our Mini World Cup, organised by Miss Efreme and Mrs Gillies, came to a close on Wednesday after weeks of exciting football.
The competition began in early June, with over 130 children from Years 4 - 6 signing up to take part in the lunchtime tournament. Players were split into teams of eight across four groups, with four teams in each group. Every team played three group-stage matches, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the knockout rounds.
The quarter-finals and semi-finals produced some nail-biting encounters, with several matches requiring penalty shootouts to decide who would progress. After battling the recent heatwaves and having had to postpone fixtures, the whole of Key Stage 2 gathered to watch the exciting final between Japan and Egypt.
The final certainly did not disappoint. In a closely contested match, Japan were crowned our Mini World Cup champions, edging out Egypt 1–0. The winning goal came from Zac, who scored the decisive goal against his own brother, Ben, who was in goal for Egypt - a moment that made for a truly memorable and unique finale to the competition!
Finishing in 4th place was Bosnia, while Scotland secured a well-deserved 3rd place.
Our Players of the Tournament were Matthew (Year 6) and Oliver (Year 5). Both boys produced outstanding performances throughout the competition and, although their teams did not finish in the top places, they should be incredibly proud of the football they played.
A huge thank you goes to our fantastic team of Year 6 referees and linespeople, who took their roles seriously and officiated every match with enthusiasm and maturity. A special mention also goes to Zac from Heathcote School, who was on work experience and provided invaluable support throughout the tournament.
What a fantastic competition it has been! It has been wonderful to see so many children enjoying football, showing great teamwork, determination and sportsmanship, and making our Mini World Cup such a memorable event.

Year 4 Enterprise Project
Fri 03 Jul 2026The children were split into groups and worked together to decide what they could create that would not only sell well but also make a profit. Each group was given a budget of £10 to spend on materials before designing and making their products. Throughout the project, the children developed their teamwork, creativity, problem-solving and money management skills, and they thoroughly enjoyed every part of the experience.
Our ten groups produced a fantastic range of items, including decorated stones, lanyards, cookies, decorative biscuits, slime, bracelets, keyrings and Hama bead creations. Once their products were complete, the children designed eye-catching marketing posters to help promote their stalls.
On Thursday afternoon, we transformed the playground into our very own outdoor market, and what an event it was! With Year 4 shoppers eagerly visiting each stall, the market was buzzing with excitement. Everyone had great fun spending their money on the wonderful products for sale, and it was fantastic to see the children's hard work rewarded.
Altogether, we raised £202.20, making an impressive profit of £102.20.
A huge thank you goes to our amazing children for all their hard work and enthusiasm, as well as to our staff, volunteers and the wonderful work experience students from Heathcote School, whose support helped make the event such a fantastic success. We are incredibly proud of everyone involved!
