  • Black History Month

    Fri 21 Oct 2022

Children from all our KS1 and KS2 year groups participated in our assembly this morning as we celebrated Black History Month. A live video link was set up between our two sites so that the children's experience could be shared.

  • Black History Month

    Thu 20 Oct 2022

Three Year 6 pupils, Coco, Millie and Tia led assemblies today across our Infant and Junior sites focussing on Black History Month.

Millie commented, "We focussed on important people in our modern society including the long-distance athlete Mo Farrah, Diane Abbott who is a politician, and the footballer, Marcus Rashford."

Coco added, "We wanted to do a Black History assembly to the other children in the school to raise awareness that people from all ethnicities make important contributions to the society we live in and to support the struggle to end racism."

  • Boys' Football Tournament

    Tue 18 Oct 2022

C of E entered two teams into the annual Waltham Forest School Sport Network 6 a-side football tournament held at 'Goals' in Morrison Avenue. This year there were two competitions running contemporaneously - one for Year 3 & 4 pupils, the other for Year 5 & 6 pupils.

The Year 5 & 6 team struggled to find any real form during their 4 games gaining a solitary point in their league courtesy of a 1-1 draw with Handsworth Primary. The younger boys had a better time of it winning three of their league games and qualifying for the quarter final stage of the competition before being eliminated at the hands of Parkside Primary.

The Year 3 & 4 team captain, Louis, who thoroughly enjoyed representing his school commented, "My team managed to hit the back of the net quite a few times, which was pleasing. Although both teams failed to win any trophies, we all had a good experience. I was really pleased with my own performance as I scored 5 goals!"

  • Harvest Festival

    Fri 14 Oct 2022

The school held a harvest festival today at the Junior site. Pupils at the infants joined in the occasion via a live video link.

We we’re overwhelmed by the donations of tinned and packaged food products despite the difficult economic times we are all facing. The donations will be passed on to a local food bank to help those in the community who are struggling to make ends meet. The generosity of our families supports our school’s Christian vision which encourages our stakeholders to ‘not only look after ourselves but to think of others, too.’ (Philippians 2:4)

As is our tradition, Key Stage 2 pupils took part in a bread making competition with the winners being presented with book tokens.

  • #Hello Yellow

    Fri 14 Oct 2022

On Monday 10th October, we wore yellow to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health in young people. YoungMinds, the charity, whose camera crew spent the day with us, interviewing children and staff and observing the activities that we took part in, wrote this to Ms Lampard after their visit,” I’m just reaching out to show my gratitude to everyone at your school involved in the #HelloYellow filming from earlier this week ❤ you were the perfect school! We can’t thank you enough for your flexibility and understanding around the day, and especially for all the organised yellow activities and plans – we can’t wait to see the footage! With your help, we’ll have a video and other footage to promote #HelloYellow to other schools next year and long into the future. It’s so vital to grow the campaign and in-turn supporting more young people with their mental health.”
In addition to raising awareness, we raised £296.18 in donations to YoungMinds, thank you! We look forward to sharing the film with you when we get it!
