Rollapuluza Fun
Thu 29 Mar 2012Rollapuluza came to Chingford C of E Juniors recently. The static cycle speed races were part of our Sport Relief Day celebrations which helped to raise over £300 for the charity. Year 5 pupil, Arty, described the activity as a ' fun event, even though my legs ached because I was pedalling so fast!'
The boy and girl winners in each year group went onto represent the school in a race off against other schools at Leyton Orient's football ground. Our team finished 3rd overall with Year 6 student, Joash, being crowned overall champion for cycling faster than anyone else.

Lifeguards Teach Beach Safety
Tue 27 Mar 2012Two lifeguards from the Royal National Lifeboat Institute have visited the school to talk to the children about beach safety. Children from towns and cities are most at risk of getting into difficulty along our coastline so the RNLI are targetting schools in these areas with a programme designed to acquaint children with the dangers associated with a day at the seaside. The school's Junior Accident Prevention Officer, Eleni, described the sessions as "interesting" adding, " We learnt about things such as the meaning of flags, how to avoid getting sun burn and how to react if you're caught in a rip tide."
The lifeguards also brought along with them their truck which they use to patrol the beach.
