    Thu 31 Jan 2013

    High 5 Netball

On Thursday 31st January a group of year 6 pupils competed in a netball tournament at Score in Leyton. There were 12 other schools who took part in the tournament. Our school entered two teams. The A team included: Alex, Aimee S, Lydia, Annie, Ellie, Rosie G, Aaqib and Arty. The B team included: Selin, Francesca, Aimee K, Nicola, Amy C, Charlie W and Max T. Every team had the opportunity to play five games within their group in order to qualify for the semi-final. Sadly, our teams did not qualify for the semi-final with the A team placing 3rd within their group and the B team placing 5th within their group.

Ellie said “I was nervous at first throughout the games, but I really enjoyed it.”

Charlie said, “I felt fine throughout all the matches”.

  • School Councillors Visit Town Hall

    Mon 28 Jan 2013
Members of the Chingford C of E Junior School's school council recently visited the Council Chambers at Waltham Forest Town Hall to find out how democracy works at a local level. The pupils visit was hosted by Cllr Michael Lewis who represents Chingford Green Ward.

The children met up with the Mayor of Waltham Forest Cllr Richard Sweden who answered questions about what his role entails. Year 5 pupil Michael Mooney thoroughly enjoyed his trip to the Town Hall describing it as, "An excellent and interesting visit. I really liked meeting the Mayor."

The school council's next visit will be to City Hall, London, where they will look at how London is governed. Later in the year the pupils will visit the Houses of Parliament.

Pictured with the children in the Mayor's Parlour is The Mayor, Cllr Richard Sweden, together with Chingford Green's Cllr Michael Lewis.
