At Chingford Church of England Primary School our children are on a mission to help Rusty the robot!
NumBots is a fun online maths programme that helps children learn to add and subtract. It builds their fluency and recall in mental maths and gives them real confidence with numbers. Rusty is a rather rusty robot who needs help finding new parts so he can upgrade himself into a shiny diamond bot. As children answer questions and unlock levels, Rusty gets an upgrade too.
Why does NumBots matter?
Strong number skills are the building blocks for all the maths children will learn later on. NumBots covers number recognition, number bonds and adding and subtracting double digit numbers. It helps children build a solid understanding of how numbers work, one step at a time.
How to Log in
Visit play.numbots.com on a computer or tablet. Choose Schools > Pupils, search for Chingford Church of England Primary School and then enter your child’s username and password.
You can also download the free app from the Apple App Store, Google Play or the Amazon Appstore.
Your child has been sent home with a small login card to help them remember how to log in.
Please encourage your child to keep their password private. If your child forgets their login details, please ask their class teacher. The NumBots team cannot give out login details to parents for data protection reasons.
How does the game work?
- Bot Avatar: When children first log in they choose a Bot Name and design their own robot. Coins earned by answering questions correctly can be spent in the Custom Shack on new parts.
- Story Mode: 18 stages packed with levels that children unlock one by one. Using pictures and models, it introduces different ways of calculating in a carefully planned order.
- Challenge Mode: 30 quick fire challenges, each lasting 1 minute, to practise key maths facts against the clock.
How much should my child play?
Little and often is the secret to robot success. Just 3 minutes a day, makes a real difference.
Children are not expected to pass every level first time. To earn the 2 or 3 stars needed to move on, they need to be quick as well as accurate. If they get stuck, going back to earlier levels and aiming for 3 stars is a great way to build speed.
