Girls' Cricket Teams Shine at Leyton Tournament
We were lucky enough to take two Year 5 and 6 girls' teams to Leyton to take part in a cricket tournament involving 21 teams. Despite experiencing all types of weather throughout the day, the girls showed fantastic determination and teamwork throughout the competition.
Each team played two group games, with teams needing to win both matches to progress to the knockout stages. Our B team played brilliantly, winning one game and narrowly losing the other, meaning they unfortunately did not progress any further.
Our A team won both of their group matches to secure a place in the quarter-finals, where they put in another excellent performance to progress to the semi-finals. There, they were beaten by a very strong Greenleaf School side — the same team that had defeated our B team earlier in the tournament.
The girls then went on to compete in the 3rd/4th place play-off, where they beat Hillyfield to earn themselves a well-deserved bronze medal.
A huge well done to all of the girls who took part. Greenleaf went on to win the entire tournament, so both of our teams should be extremely proud of their performances and achievements.
