  • Year 5 & 6 Boys Football Competition

Fri 27 Feb 2026 Miss Efreme

We proudly entered a Year 5 & 6 School Football Tournament featuring an impressive 32 teams. We took two squads - one Year 6 team and one Year 5 team - and both represented the school brilliantly throughout the day.

    Year 6 Team Performance

Our Year 6 side — Harry, Alex O, Alex N, Dylan, Rowan, George, Mikaal and Mason - competed in five tough matches.
They secured 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses, showing resilience and determination against strong opposition. Every player contributed, battling hard in every game and doing the school proud with their attitude and effort.

Year 5 Team – An Incredible Run to the Final

Our Year 5 team — Zac P, Zak B, Ben, Greyson, Arlo, Jasper, Kyran and Max — had an outstanding tournament, progressing all the way to the final stages.
The final was a thrilling three-way contest against Year 6 teams, showing just how impressive their achievement was.

    • Game 1 vs Newport – 1–1 draw

    • Newport vs Whittingham – 1–1 draw
    • Chingford C of E vs Whittingham – 0–0 draw

With all three teams so evenly matched, the tournament was decided on goal difference. Newport edged it, meaning Chingford C of E finished joint second overall.

An incredible achievement, especially competing against older players.

  • Year 5 Parts of a flower

Thu 26 Feb 2026 Mrs Gandhi

In Science this week, children have dissected tulips and daffodils, using a magnifying glass to closely observe the different parts. They then sorted and accurately labelled each part they identified.

Well done for your effective group work and for analysing and recording your findings using different methods.

  • ⚽ Year 5 & 6 Girls’ Football Champions!

Tue 24 Feb 2026 Mrs Gillies

Our Year 5 and Year 6 girls took part in an exciting football competition held at Goals - and what a fantastic event it was!

With 33 schools from across the borough competing, the standard of football was exceptionally high. We entered two teams: a Year 5 team and a Year 6 team. Both played superbly in the group stages and progressed to the knockout rounds, a huge achievement in itself.

In a thrilling twist, our two teams met in the quarter-finals. It was a closely contested match, with the Year 6 team narrowly winning 1-0 in a competitive and well-played game.

The Year 6 team continued their outstanding form, going unbeaten throughout the tournament and conceding just one goal overall, an exceptional defensive record. A special mention must go to Rebecca, who conceded only one goal across the entire competition. The team demonstrated determination, teamwork and resilience, ultimately winning the tournament and being crowned champions out of 33 schools, a remarkable accomplishment.

    Year 6 Team:
Rebecca, Lulu, Ania, Jaime, Bella C, Isabelle R, Sophia W and Vera

    Year 5 Team:

Sophia K, Rubey Rose, Akexia, Dolly, Sofia M, Nyah, Issy and Layna

We are also incredibly proud of our year 5 team who played with confidence and courage, competing brilliantly against strong Year 6 opposition. Reaching the knockout stages was a fantastic achievement and shows great promise for the future.

Well done to all the girls for representing our school with such pride, teamwork and sportsmanship. We could not be prouder.

  • World Thinking Day

Mon 23 Feb 2026 Mr Hewitt

Today our children joined millions of young people around the world in celebrating World Thinking Day.

This special day is marked by members of the Girlguiding and Scouting movements across the globe, recognising friendship, service and global citizenship.

World Thinking Day encourages us to reflect on how we can make a positive difference in our communities and beyond. It reminds us that, although we may live in different countries and cultures, we share common hopes for peace, kindness and opportunity for all.

At our school, we are proud to promote these values through our commitment to respect, inclusion and working together. We encourage our children to think beyond themselves, to show compassion and to act with courage - not just today, but every day.

🌎 Together, we can think globally and act locally.

  • Year 3 & 4 Girls Football Tournament

Tue 10 Feb 2026 Mrs Gillies

Year 3 and Year 4 girls took part in a girls’ football tournament at Goals. Both teams performed exceptionally well, with the Year 4 team finishing 3rd out of 29 schools in the borough.

For the Year 3 girls, this was their very first tournament. They showed great determination, battling hard against some well-established Year 4 teams and even securing a win.

We are incredibly proud of the determination, sportsmanship and excellent behaviour shown by all the girls who attended the event.

  • World War 2 - On the high Seas

Tue 10 Feb 2026 Mrs Brand & Mrs Lowrie

Today we had a visit from Mrs Jackie Conway (Emily's Nan). Mrs Conway kindly shared with us the story of her father who was in the Royal Navy during WWII. This was a wonderful experience for the children as they got to look at photo albums, medals, ration books, certificates of proficiency and the handwritten letters he sent to his mother. Amazingly, there was even an unopened WWII first aid field dressing that the children were able to hold and examine. This session was invaluable to our learning, as the passage of time since World War II gets further away, there are less people who have heard first hand (from parents/grandparents) of their loved ones experiences.

  • Year 1 - History of Toys Workshop

Fri 06 Feb 2026 Miss Hutchinson

Year 1 had a fantastic time taking part in a History of Toys workshop delivered by History Off The Page! This engaging session brought history to life as the children explored how toys have changed over time, discovered what they’re made from and how they work, and took part in hands-on activities to deepen their understanding of the past. The workshop supported our learning in history and design, helping pupils compare old and new toys in a fun and interactive way. A great day of curiosity, creativity and discovery!

  • RRS council visit to Waltham forest Town Hall

    Mon 26 Jan 2026 HN

This trip was amazing! It started with the bus drive there, which was going perfectly until our bus broke down. Luckily it was just one stop away from our destination so it was only two extra minutes walking.

We waited outside the Town Hall until thankfully Lauren came to save us from the cold. Lauren is the Mayors assistant and she kindly took us up stairs to the debating chamber. Mayor Tony Bell was waiting for us to take our seats. Then he told us what being the Mayor of Waltham Forest was like.

We were very curious so we loaded him with lots of questions. We learnt a lot and we discussed our thoughts about the fact that at present there no seatbelts on public transport buses for children. Lauren is going to send us some emails of people that maybe able to help the RRS council raise this issue further.

Some of the children got to feel the weight of the special chain that the Mayor wears around his neck. Mayor Tony and Lauren took us to the Mayors chamber to see the mace that starts the discussion in the debating chamber.

Then as we were about to leave Mayor Tony took us to see the new garden that is environmentally friendly and we even saw a beautiful sculpture by Henry Moore.

Eloise loved the fact that Mayor Tony showed us lots of facts about the history of Town Hall in a special cabinet

Charlotte liked holding the very heavy chain that had a special crescent on it.

It was really enjoyable and very nice of Mayor Tony and Lauren to show us round town hall.

    Report by Charlotte and Eloise.

  • Junior Carol Concert

    Fri 12 Dec 2025

The junior site children sang a range of carols to their parents/carers outside on the upper playground, this afternoon. The weather was kind and we all thoroughly enjoyed it!

  • Science competition winners!

Thu 27 Nov 2025 Mrs McMurray

Well done to those children who entered our whole school Science Competition ‘Why do we sleep?’

We received an exceptional array of entries, showcasing incredible creativity and scientific curiosity from pupils across all year groups. The standard was remarkably high, making the judging process for the RRS councillors genuinely tricky. We were captivated by the diversity of submissions, which included detailed posters, evocative poems, intricate models, engaging movies and more!  Every participant should be immensely proud of their effort and ingenuity in exploring such a complex and fascinating scientific question.

Congratulations to all who took part!

A special mention to our winners!  Teddy in 1B & Oscar in 4B
