#LETGIRLSPLAY

All the girls across KS1 and KS2 classes received an hour's football coaching today in support of England Football and Barclays' #LetGirlsPlay initiative.

The FA’s and Barclays ambition is for girls to have the same football opportunities as boys in schools and clubs. #LetGirlsPlay is a campaign to drive influence and change perceptions, showing that football can and should be played by girls. It is bringing together a growing community of people of all genders, ages and backgrounds who want to champion equal access for girls, helping create independent, resilient young girls who will be a force for good in all local communities.

Girls and boys were allowed to wear football tops to school which delighted many of the children. As well as the usual plethora of Premier League shirts on show, it was good to see some lower division sides represented such as Reading,  Leyton Orient and Doncaster Rovers! There were even rumours that Scottish team, Partick Thistle, had a shirt on the premises!

Year 6 pupil, Grace, who sported a Real Madrid shirt, thoroughly enjoyed her session saying, " Most girls don't play football so it was great to see so many of them training and playing the game with such enthusiasm."
