A huge thank you to Mrs Blake for organising our first Modern Music Day on Tuesday this week. The aim was to teach the children that modern music in this country can all be traced back to the Blues. Each year group took a different genre, with reception listening to pop music, Y1 to jazz, Y2 to country, Y3 to R&B, Y4 to rock, Y5 to rap/soul/funk and Y6 to punk music. The children listened to, danced to music. They had a go at writing their own music and lyrics. They even designed clothes to fit with the fashions of their genre. The school was alive to the sound of music! It was wonderful! There were many high spots, but discovering Brodie in Y3’s amazing voice, listening to a duet that brother and sister Tyler and Millie had pre-prepared at home, and looking at the clothes Y6 designed for the punk rock era were definitely up there as wonderful moments!
