Professor teaches Year 5 pupils magic tricks!
Paul Curzon, a Professor of Computer Science in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary University of London, visited Year 5 students this week armed with a number of magic tricks up his sleeve!
"The fun part of our computer science sessions," said Paul, " is that we are able to teach magic tricks and link them to computing. The exercises we explore are really about problem solving and how
maths, science and engineering underpin everything."
Paul went on to add, "The kids in both classes were really, really enthusiastic throughout and
a joy to teach. They all worked hard to try and work out how the tricks worked, coming up with creative ideas and running little experiments to narrow down what could be happening, before we went through the secrets. I hope they now enjoy putting on their own mini-magic shows but remember to keep the secrets they were taught!"
