Rights Respecting School Councillors Visit Houses of Parliament

Fresh from a recent visit to Waltham Forest Town Hall where they meet up with the Borough's mayor, our school councillors visited Westminster Palace today to further advance their knowledge of how democracy works in the United Kingdom.

Year 6 councillors Asfandyar and Georgie were both enthusiastic about the trip. Asfandyar commented, "I really enjoyed the workshop which was about how laws are debated and passed." Georgie added, "I found it really interesting watching the debates in the House of Commons and the House of Lords. I noticed both Houses have maces on display just as there is one at the Town Hall and one when we have our school council meetings at school."

Riah, from Year 5, said, "I enjoyed learning about how the Prime Minister and the MPs sort out important issues."
