Y5 presentation about the conflict in Gaza
Arthur, Antony and Indiana, with technician support from Thomas P and Hari, all from Y5 Bronte, gave a moving presentation in collective worship today. They were outlining the long history of conflict in Israel and Palestine, and the current war in Gaza.
The pupils had researched and written the presentation themselves. Tomorrow, the children are invited to wear white for Peace. This can be as simple as wearing a white hair accessory or they can dress head to toe in white, if they prefer! The Y5 team are requesting donations of money to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) which translates to 'Doctors without Borders'. We will have buckets on the gates on the 12th December, or you can donate on line: https://www.justgiving.com/page/chingford-cofe-primary-school-1701873416774
This initiative led by Arthur, Anthony and Indiana is driven by wanting to help the people affected by the war in Gaza and praying for peace around the world: Palestine, Israel, Ukraine, Russia, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Mali, Yemen, Turkey, Western Sahara, Congo, Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan to name some. This initiative links to Articles 38 and 39 (Governments must protect and care for children affected by war and victims of war must receive special support to help them recover their health, dignity and social life) under the convention of children’s rights.
