Year 3 Mosque Visit
Pupils from Year 3 recently visited the Jamia Mas Jid Mosque in Leyton as part of their studies on Islam. The children focused on looking at wudu - a type of ritual purification which Muslims perform before prayer.
Esme, a pupil in Year 3, wrote in her journal, "First we went inside the mosque and met Irfan who told us about the 5 Pillars of Islam and that one of the Pillars is prayer (salah). Later we did some activities including the order of how wudu is set out."
Esme's classmate, Charlie, who also went to the mosque described the visit as 'a great experience'. He added, "It was brilliant to actually experience how to make wudu rather than read it in a book or see a video about it."
