Year 6 Pupils visit Neasden Temple
Pupils in Year 6 enjoyed a day out today at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, more commonly known as Neasden Temple. The children visited the Hindu mandir as part of their current RE unit which asks the question, 'Is it better to express your religion in arts and architecture or in charity and generosity?'
The visit brought some excited responses from the pupils. "It was amazing," declared Bethany, "possibly the most intricately designed building I've ever been in!"
Thomas, commented, " The details in the carvings were spectacular. I was astonished when I learnt how much time and effort went into building such a magnificent temple."
Lola enjoyed observing the Arti service, "I liked seeing the idols being dressed and given food" she said.
Tia enjoyed learning about a religion other than Christianity saying, " I found out that Hinduism has one supreme god who has taken many different identities when dealing with humankind."
Asha, our guide during the visit, was particularly impressed with our Year 6 pupils praising them for their respectful behaviour inside the mandir and well thought-out questions.
