School Gains Arts Mark Silver Award
Thu 21 Jul 2022In the wake of receiving the prestigious UNICEF Rights Respecting School Silver Award, Chingford C of E Primary now finds itself proudly in receipt of another coveted Silver Award, this time for the Arts!
Artsmark is the only creative quality standard for schools and education settings, accredited by Arts Council England. Artsmark’s flexible framework is designed to help schools embed arts, culture and creativity across the whole curriculum, celebrating a commitment to cultural education.
The feedback from the assessors commended the school for its commitment to the Arts and how innovation and implemented changes have had a positive impact on our pupils:
"You adapted your plans during the Covid pandemic to ensure the arts momentum would not be lost by creating a different focus (the use of sketch books) and not allowing a lack of funds to get in the way of providing new opportunities such as using the local recycle centre, creating a mural using plastic bottles and CDs and working with a spray artist to design a mural in the playground. It was great to read of the improved attendance for individual children and the increased participation in the Arts of the Pupil Premium and / Looked After Children groups."
"Your Culture Day to promote diversity, self-worth and equality and arts Enrichment Events e.g. 'Who are artists?' are providing new and fun learning experiences. Children clearly enjoyed working with and learning from working with a professional make-up artist."
"Staff are well supported by leaders and most staff feel confident in delivering art lessons and where they do not, they are given the appropriate support."
"Well done on all that you have achieved, and we look forward to reading of your next Artsmark journey."
A big thank you to Miss Greenberg for all the hard work she has put into helping the school gain this award

Planet Earth Rock
Thu 21 Jul 2022Pupils at the Junior site recently had a visit from Project Earth Rock, a musical climate change combo who came to school to encourage pupils to reduce waste, save energy and walk to school.
Passionate Year 4 Climate Change supporters, Issy and Cody, found the presentation really interesting. Issy said, "It's really important kids learn about climate change so they can begin to bring about change at an early age." Cody added, "I agree with Issy, this is a really important subject, particularly for the younger generation."

Year 6 Play
Mon 11 Jul 2022With the summer holidays fast approaching, Year 6 pupils entertained pupils and family members with their tribute to holiday camps called 'Poplins - where dreams become reality!'
Year 6 actor, Eduan, who played the role of a 'green coat', thoroughly enjoyed being part of the production commenting, "It was great to be involved in the play, especially as it was one of the last chances the Year Group will get to work together before we go to secondary school."
Zak, who played the part of a waiter, also enjoyed participating in the play. " The songs were really amusing," he said, "my favourite being the 'HAPPY OAP' song which made me laugh every time I sang it."
