Year 3 - Allotment
On Friday 3rd July 2026, Year 3 will visit the allotment again. Year 3 visit the local allotment three times a year. Visiting an allotment offers children a fantastic, hands-on way to connect with nature. It provides crucial physical and mental health benefits.
Understanding Food: Children discover where their food comes from, making them much more likely to try and enjoy eating fresh vegetables and fruit.
Physical Health: Digging, carrying, and planting offer great exercise, help build motor skills, and ensure exposure to natural sunlight and fresh air.
Mental Well-being: The outdoors is naturally calming, which helps children recharge, and boosts self-esteem as they see their crops thrive.
Wildlife Education: Allotments act as miniature nature reserves. Children can observe ecosystems first hand - from pollinating bees and butterflies to the birds and worms.
Patience and Responsibility: Watering and tending to plants teaches the value of routine and patience.
What to wear: School uniform. Please bring trainers/wellies.
3B Leaving at 9.30am and back for lunch.
3P Leaving at 12.45pm and back by home time.
