YEAR 3 - River Ching
On Tuesday 4th June, Year 3 will have a geography field trip. This will begin at the source of the River Ching, where we will learn how rivers are born from humble springs and underground water sources. We'll observe the changing width and depth, and examine the unique characteristics of this river's upper course. This hands-on experience brings our classroom studies of rivers and drainage systems vividly to life.
Next, we'll venture into Epping Forest, one of ancient England's woodlands and a treasure trove of geographical wonders. Here, students will investigate how forests influence water cycles, prevent erosion, and support incredible biodiversity. From examining soil composition to identifying native tree species, every step offers a new discovery.
This visit connects theory with reality, showing how physical geography shapes our environment. Students will develop essential fieldwork skills while gaining a deeper appreciation for the natural world right on our doorstep.
