  • Class Assemblies Resume

    Thu 03 Nov 2022

Key Stage 2 pupils witnessed their first class-led assembly this week since before the Covid-19 lock down.

Class assemblies have always been a part of our collective worship / assembly programme and have been sorely missed.

A large gathering of parents, carers, grandparents and siblings saw our Year 6 Pankhurst class share their learning experiences this term which included presentations on Black History Month, Emmeline Pankhurst and the Suffragette Movement, the history of the Kingdom of Benin and the Year 6 study book, 'Storm Breaker', written by Anthony Horowitz,

Esme, who played the role of Emmeline Pankhurst, greatly enjoyed the experience saying, "I was quite nervous at first but once I started talking, I was fine. I think my last class assembly took place when I was in Year 3!"

Jamie, who started the assembly with a liturgical greeting, was also nervous but said being involved gave him 'a bit of a buzz'. "It was great that my nan came along to see me," he added.

  • Cross-Country Race on the field!

Yesterday a KS2 cross country run event took place at the Juniors involving children who had qualified from their class list of top runners.

One of the competitors, Chloe, from Year 6 commented, " It was a well-structured course around the school field and playground. I really enjoyed it!"

Ivy, a fellow Year 6 pupil who acted as a marshal, added, "It was great to see how the children who were spectating encouraged the athletes to keep on going despite their exhaustion."

Year 6 pupils and family members attended church today to celebrate All Saints' Day. The service was led by Father Justin and Mother Katherine with pupils providing the bible readings.

All Saints' Day is a festival observed on November 1 by Christians, the day after Halloween. On this day, many Christians honour all those people who are considered saints by the church.

  • Stay & Read

    Tue 01 Nov 2022

The school held a Stay and Read morning at the Junior site today for parents, carers and grandparents to spend time reading with their child(ren).

Year 3 pupil, Ralph, whose father attended the Stay and Read morning, was particularly enthusiastic about the event saying, " My mum usually comes into school so it was really brilliant to spend time with my dad here."

Fellow Year 3 pupil, Francesca, whose grandad came along, commented, "It was good for my grandad to come to school to read with me as he can see how well I'm doing."
