UK Parliament Recognises School Pupils' Courageous Advocacy
Mon 28 Mar 2022The school recently entered a competition run by UK Parliament looking to recognise schools who have promoted courageous advocacy amongst their pupils. At Chingford C of E Primary, we encourage and support our children to be "courageous advocates". This means they champion causes which are special and meaningful to them. Our extensive road traffic campaigns on both sites were put forward as evidence of how the school has worked with its pupils, parents and local community to bring about a safer crossing on Kings Road as well as attempting to improve driver behaviour on Cambridge Road.Whilst the school did not win first place in the competition, we were delighted to be told we received a 'Highly Commended' approbation from the judges:"On behalf of the Education and Engagement Team and our panel of judges, we would like to thank you for taking the time to tell us about all the hard work you’re doing! With nearly 288 nominations, deciding a winner was not easy. The judges were very impressed by the high standard of the entries this year. While your entry did not win this time, it was considered Highly Commended by the judges." -

Thu 24 Mar 2022On March 24th the school held a Cultural Day celebrating its rich cultural diversity. Prayer Space Week
Tue 22 Mar 2022In conjunction with the Red Balloon Foundation, the school is currently hosting a Prayer Space week themed around Lent and it's connection with Jesus' time in the wilderness.
We have been using the Junior Library as a venue for Prayer Space with children from both sites visiting at lunchtimes and lesson times to engage in a range of creative activities that encourage personal reflection on issues such as forgiveness, injustice, thankfulness, big questions, identity and stillness.
Prayer spaces enable children and young people, of all faiths and none, to explore life’s questions, spirituality and faith in a safe, creative and interactive way.

#LETGIRLSPLAY
Wed 09 Mar 2022All the girls across KS1 and KS2 classes received an hour's football coaching today in support of England Football and Barclays' #LetGirlsPlay initiative.
The FA’s and Barclays ambition is for girls to have the same football opportunities as boys in schools and clubs. #LetGirlsPlay is a campaign to drive influence and change perceptions, showing that football can and should be played by girls. It is bringing together a growing community of people of all genders, ages and backgrounds who want to champion equal access for girls, helping create independent, resilient young girls who will be a force for good in all local communities.
Girls and boys were allowed to wear football tops to school which delighted many of the children. As well as the usual plethora of Premier League shirts on show, it was good to see some lower division sides represented such as Reading, Leyton Orient and Doncaster Rovers! There were even rumours that Scottish team, Partick Thistle, had a shirt on the premises!
Year 6 pupil, Grace, who sported a Real Madrid shirt, thoroughly enjoyed her session saying, " Most girls don't play football so it was great to see so many of them training and playing the game with such enthusiasm."
