  • Alana climbed the O2!

    Mon 16 Sep 2024

Alayna, from Y2 climbed the O2 last night as part of a fundraiser to raise money for a charity called Forgotten Women:https://forgottenwomen.org/about/

Forgotten Women is a charity run by women for women, a UK based organisation dedicated to helping women in crisis and emergencies, lifting them out of poverty and championing equality and rights for marginalised girls and women. The charity was set up after witnessing first-hand the ‘sex for aid’ violations and manipulation of women in vulnerable situations.

Forgotten Women have been delivering safe aid to women by women for 7 years now. The three areas of work they focus on are:

    1. Safe Aid: Delivering emergency aid to women by women
    2. Transforming Lives: Changing the lives of women in poverty with business start-ups
    3. Advocacy: Being the voice for women

Alana was the youngest in a group of 22 participants, she showed a lot of bravery and confidence, despite being a little fearful of the height. In a short space of 2 weeks she raised £255.

    We are very proud!

  • School Games Games days

    Fri 13 Sep 2024

On Wednesday and Thursday this week we held our School Games Day. It was the juniors turn on Wednesday, and yesterday the infant site are thoroughly enjoying a range of activities!

School Games day is an intra-school competition that takes place between pupils who attend the same school.  It is a great opportunity to try new sports, such as archery, or work as a team to win a tug of war, or build a shelter co-operatively, quicker than another group, and to generally celebrate our school's sporting success!

We had a brilliant time! Thank you to Miss Watson and Miss Efreme for organising it!

  • T-Factor Finals!

    Fri 19 Jul 2024

It started with 41 hopeful acts about a month ago. There have been rounds, judges' classrooms and today was the final of the Talent Show known as the 'T-factor' or more formally 'Chingford's Got Talent.' The standard was superb! Everyone who got to the finals should feel very proud of themselves!

In the finals  were Indiana-Rose and Cassidy-Mea from Y3, Rose G and Frankie from Y4, Anthony, Nancy, Dexxi, Amelia and Molly from Y5. Sadly, Indiana couldn’t perform as she was unwell today (we wish you better!) India, Amelia W, Maya, Emma, Gracie, Ethan, Betsy, Issy, Milly, Lois, Lara and Riah from Y6. The Leavers from Y6 won with a rap they had written themselves! In second place were the Ex Wives from Y6 with Rose and Anthony coming joint third place.  Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the performances.

A special mention must go to our top technician, Thomas P, who Miss Greenberg described as, “her right hand man” during all the stages and rehearsals and including the finals today. Calm and collected, behind the scenes Thomas can be relied on to get the right music on at the right time!

  • The Finals of the Mini Euros!

    Fri 19 Jul 2024

It was a very exciting final between France and Denmark this morning. At the end of the match is was one goal each! It went to penalties and with Hasan scoring the winning penalty, France took the cup!

In addition to the winners medals there were medals for Gracie and Lois as recognition for all their hard work this year organising various football competitions, playing very well and being excellent referees!

A huge thank you to Mr Blake for giving up so much of his free time to arrange the tournament.

  • Year 3 pupil crowned chess king

    Thu 11 Jul 2024

Finlay from Year 3 won the school’s inaugural chess championship beating Year 5 pupil Makayla  in a thrilling final which climaxed an exciting tournament involving pupils from all the Key Stage 2 year groups.
Finlay proved a formidable opponent and a worthy winner and looks set to dominate chess at the school for years to come bearing in mind his young age.

Congratulations are also due to Makayla, one of a small number of girls who took part in the tournament, who displayed tremendous flair and skill in getting through to the final.

  • DIY Day transformation!

    Sun 30 Jun 2024

A huge "Thank You" to all the parents who volunteered to give up their time on Saturday to transform the junior site playground! It looks amazing! The children will be thrilled when they see it on Monday! Thank you to pupils, Chloe, Skylar and Peter for their magnificent efforts too!

A special thank you to Jon Reidy, for organising the day. Thank you to the parents/carers who donated plants or cash to buy plants, we really appreciate your generosity. We are looking to do another DIY day, early in the Autumn Term, and we will be collecting the names of volunteers for that day, at the Summer Fayre, next Saturday, 6th July, - come along and find out how you can help!

  • Aleeya Sibbons inspires us!

    Thu 27 Jun 2024

This morning, we were delighted to welcome Olympic hopeful, Aleeya Sibbons, to talk to the children in our assembly. Aleeya Sibbons is a track and field athlete who competes internationally for Great Britain as a sprinter.

What a truly inspiring person Aleeya is! She gave up her time to come and thoughtfully answer a range of questions from children as young as 4 years old through to 11 year olds! Currently studying architecture, at The University of Bath, Aleeya is set to find out this weekend, if she has made it to a place in the Olympic team and will be going to Paris! We wish her the very best and hope to see her competing in this year’s Olympics, representing GB!

She really demonstrated to the children what hard work, tenacity and focus can lead to. She told the children that only you, yourself, can set limits on yourself: accept constructive criticism to improve and keep working towards your goals and you can do whatever you aspire to do!

  • Year 2 Visit LSO

    Mon 24 Jun 2024

Lucky year 2 experienced their third concert this school year with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Centre.

This time the theme was Magic and Music and we certainly were treated to both! The orchestra played a wonderful selection of magical music, including Modest Mussorgksy's A Night on Bald Mountain (where the witches hold a party). The children joined in, singing and performing their actions beautifully, with songs they have been practising for the event.

We were amazed to witness co-presenter and timpani player, Patrick King, show of his magic circle skills - the last of these involved a volunteer from the audience levitating on stage!

The behaviour was impeccable, as always. We would like to thank the parent volunteers for their help on our outing and making it possible.
