TEACHER STRIKE DAY - WEDNESDAY 1ST FEBRUARY 2023
Fri 27 Jan 2023Dear parents/carers,
As you are aware the NEU(one of the teachers’ unions) have declared strike action, which will take place on Wednesday 1st February 2023. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government over teachers’ pay, and not because of any issues at our school.
I am writing to inform you that Chingford Cof E Primary will be closed to all pupils on Wednesday 1st February.
We have not taken this decision lightly. We remain committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our pupils, and feel that we would be unable to provide this with the staff we have available.
I’m sorry that you will have to make alternative arrangements for your child on that day. I understand that this situation may be frustrating, and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect.
We are working closely with our staff union representatives to keep up to date with the situation, and I will inform you as soon as possible about the following strike dates of 2nd March, 15th and 16th March 2023.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Lindsey Lampard

Greta, also from Year 2, was equally enthusiastic saying, "When I saw the video I wished I had been there to perform the song as it seems so much fun! It's a bit like the song we sing called 'My Lighthouse' but I think I prefer this one."

Christmas Church Service
Fri 16 Dec 2022Our annual Christmas church service at the Parish Church of Ss Peter & Paul was sadly cancelled due to the treacherous conditions on the footpaths outside the school sites. Despite this disappointment, the service went ahead at the Junior site where a streaming link was set up ensuring our pupils on the Infant site took part.
Father Justin welcomed everyone to the service, gave a talk and led us into the Lord's Prayer. He also finished the service with a Christmas blessing.
Some shepherds from Year 3 carried out the readings while the school choir sang 'O Little Town of Bethlehem'. Pupils from our Infant Prayer Club also pitched in with some prayers they had written.
The whole school joined in with the singing of three carols - 'Starry Night', 'Silent Night' and 'Mary's Child.’
Year 6 pupil, Toby, who set up the video link and who was also in charge of the sound system, said, "It was a shame we didn't manage to get to church but it was a successful event with a good message preached by the vicar."
Ivy, also from Year 6, added, "I enjoyed the service. I'm glad we didn't walk to church as I'm sure someone would have slipped in the icy conditions which would possibly ruin their Christmas."

Christmas Festivities
Wed 14 Dec 2022As Christmas beckons and with snow on the ground, our children have busied themselves with a number of Christmas themed activities this week including Christmas cake baking, sculpting angels, card and decoration making and learning about the true meaning of Christmas courtesy of the Red Balloon Foundation who supplied each class with a Christmas themed resource box and accompanying PowerPoint presentation.
On Wednesday, pupils wore their Christmas jumpers and partook of their Christmas lunches.
Former pupils, Ollie and Evan, even got in on the act. With the icy cold weather meaning their secondary school closed early they visited the school and helped out with some Year 6 Christmas cake making. Ollie said, "It was good to see some familiar faces and watching the children have fun." Fellow Year 7 student, Evan, added, "There was a nice Christmassy feeling about the old place."
