  • Remembrance

    Wed 04 Nov 2020
With the 4 week Covid-19 national lockdown preventing the school from attending the annual local Remembrance Service, pupils will be paying their respects to those who have served and fought in our armed forces, on the school site over the next 7 days. The  first photograph shows some of our Year 5 pupils proudly displaying a poppy wreath which will be laid by the war memorial in Chingford Mount Cemetery. The second shows the wreath being laid at the memorial by Year 4 pupil, Molly.
  • AXA Coral Live

    Mon 02 Nov 2020
Parents and Carers may be interested in the following learning opportunity:

AXA Coral Live is back with two weeks of live virtual lessons for students curious about our coral ocean. Coral Live is an exciting way to teach children about the ocean, giving them the unique opportunity to participate in live activities and Q&As with scientists conducting research on coral reefs and the issues affecting them.

AXA Coral Live 2020 will take place from November 9–19.

Coral Live is designed for students ages 7–16, and lessons will cover a range of topics from learning about coral life cycles and food chains to exploring the impact of human activity on coral reefs. The program is free and both teachers and parents can register their students to participate. The lesson broadcasts fit well with both in-person classrooms and virtual learning or home-schooling settings. We’ll also be hosting lessons in French and German in addition to English.

We encourage you to share the AXA Coral Live registration link with any teachers or parents you know and help spread the word about this exciting education opportunity!

Coral Live is run annually as part of the AXA Ocean Education program, which provides free, publicly available teaching resources about the ocean to grow and enhance ocean literacy in young people. AXA Ocean Education has so far reached 8 million students around the world! Visit the AXA Ocean Education website to learn more.

If you have any questions, please email ocean@axaxl.com, and if you'd like to receive regular updates on the Ocean Education program, including information on upcoming Live events, we encourage you to sign up to become an AXA Ocean Ambassador.

  • School Pays Tribute to Former Teaching Assistant, Wendy Cain

    Fri 16 Oct 2020

The school paid its tributes today at the funeral of Wendy Cain, a much loved and respected Teaching Assistant, who retired from service 4 years ago. Wendy worked at the school for many years and was a fantastic TA held in high esteem by both pupils and staff. Along with a floral tribute, the school has made a donation to St Clare Hospice, Harlow, where Wendy spent the last days of her life.

If you knew Wendy, were taught by her, or are the parent or carer of one of the many children she supported over the years, you may wish to donate to the Hospice through the following link:
