  • Leyton Orient 50/50 Day

    Tue 05 Jan 2016

On Saturday 19th December 26 pupils accompanied by family members attended Leyton Orient’s home game against Yeovil as part of the club’s 50/50 initiative. The idea behind the scheme is that the school sells reduced priced match day tickets on the club’s behalf with the proceeds been shared equally between the two organisations. The 50/50 scheme raised over £250 for school funds and provided  an enjoyable day for those who attended the game.

Sixteen lucky pupils got to be flag bearers welcoming the teams on to the pitch before the game started. Year 6 pupil and flag bearer, Adam, described the experience as, “amazing and stunning!”  Year 5 pupil,  Oliver, was particularly impressed with the crowd’s reaction as the flag bearers walked around the pitch.  For another Year 5 pupil, William,  the best moment of the day was when the flag bearers waved the players onto the pitch.

For the record the game ended 1-1.

Look out for another 50/50 initiative later on in the season.

Leyton Orient goalkeeper, Alex Cisak, defender, Frazer Shaw and Theo, the club mascot, visited the school on Thursday 3rd December to help promote the school’s involvement in the Leyton Orient 50/50 scheme which sees the club and school sharing proceeds from  school based ticket sales for the impending Orient v Yeovil game on Saturday 19th December.

The 2 players took part in a Q&A session with the children as well as posing for photographs and signing autographs. However, the biggest cheer of the day was reserved for Theo when he indicated his belief that the O’s would gain promotion at the end of the season to League One.
